Another Decade Passes…
Then & Now
What changes a decade makes…
10 Years Ago – New Years Eve 1999:
- I was 21.
- I had curly red/auburn hair and wore funky, clunky shoes, wide leg jeans and lot’s of sweaters.
- I had just moved into a shitty apartment in a nefarious part of town, having exited an even worse domicile that should have been condemned only a week or two prior.
- I was in college working toward a journalism degree & served as one of the staff editors for the campus rag (News, later Entertainment, then Web)
- I worked for the local paper part-time, writing obits and general odds-and-ends and covering various areas when others were on vacation.
- I was driving a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire GT, black with premium sound and a moonroof. I paid for this with money I got after the wreck of 1997.
- I spent my New Years Eve watching Jas drunkenly “swim” on my carpeted floor like a dolphin, then get hung over, then throw up… then swear he’d never drink again (and he really hasn’t much.)
The In Between – 2000 through 2008:
- Jas wrecked 2 of my cars in a matter of months (like 2, months that is) (2000)
- I graduated with a degree in Journalism & Technical Communications (2001)
- Lived in my favorite apartment EVER (University Tower, aka. The Manhattan) (2001-2002)
- Got married (2001)
- Got the job I’ll be in for a long time (2002)
- Bought a car (2002)
- Bought a house (2003)
- Got pregnant (2004) and had twins (2005)
- Diagnosed with MS (2006)
- Got divorced (2007)
- Bought another house. Got my first real tattoo. (2008)
Now – New Years Eve 2009:
- I am 31.
- I have pink and black hair and wear a variety of wide-healed shoes, wide leg jeans and a lot of black clothing.
- I live in a house I purchased after losing the first in a divorce
- I work as an artist making raw pork look as pretty as you can
- I drive a 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT, silver with premium sound and a moonroof (What can I say/ I love Pontiac. I’ve owned 3 of them since 1997… I am so going to miss that company!)
- I’m spending my New Year’s Eve working, then letting my old man (as in my dad, duh!) take me to dinner. Then it’s off to a show with he and Jas (Avatar 3D iMax). What a grand way to end the year! ;D
