Basic Proportions in Self-Portraiture

This was a pretty simple assignment. Basically we were to use our basic sighting techniques and, armed with our trusty books and guidelines (rule of halves), look into a mirror and draw a basic sketch (NO REAL DETAILS) of our own faces to get things lined out properly and in proportion.

Simple assignment, right? Yes, ma’am and sir!

However, I discovered during this exercise that I am not nearly as symmetrical as I thought I was. Don’t get me wrong, I know that symmetry in human facial structure = attractive to other humans, and the more symmetrical the face the better it appears to the rest of us. Being no raging beauty, my symmetry wouldn’t be off the chart… but DAMN IT I am really asymmetrical! :D Seriously… Check this paired-down drawing! Whoa!
